This week’s match saw BDHC 1st on home turf for the first time this season up against a well organised and finely tuned Blueharts 2nd team. The match started off with an unfortunate turnover in the middle of the pitch frustratingly resulting in a 2 vs 1 against Adi……….0-1!
BDHC quickly re-grouped but just as their passes started to pick up pace and accuracy Blueharts broke through into the D and were awarded a short corner. They rolled out their well-oiled short corner machine with the ball deflecting into our brave leader, Brewer, on the line. The umpire blew for a penalty flick and despite Portlock’s best diving attempt…….0-2!
Despite BHDC’s midfield and forwards valiant efforts, they were unable to break through Blueharts’ defence whose fairly relentless pressure in the D resulted in BDHC conceding another short corner which went low, fast and hard into the goalkeeper’s right corner……0-3!
BDHC quickly rallied and, determined not to go another goal down before half time, battled through Blueharts defensive wall with quick, accurate, fast-release passing linking up with Ben Brittan in the D who smashed it skilfully into the bottom right of the tourist’s goal …….1-3!
Blueharts hit the ground running after half time and more pressure in BDHC’s D resulted in an unmarked man banging in another goal…….1-4!
BDHC were determined to fight back and attack but this soon resulted in them pushing up too high leaving 3 vs 2 at the back ……….1-5!
Although BDHC kept their chins-up and battled on, Blueharts experienced and organised side methodically manipulated the ball until, back in BDHC’s D, they smashed their final goal through Adi from a tight angle…….1-6!
