Seeking to secure a third successive victory and really boost their chances of survival, Bourne Deeping welcomed St Albans to a windy Glinton on Saturday. They started well, moving the ball around nicely and finding some joy down both flanks. The good start paid off, Richard 'Kim Jong-Un II' Collins giving the Dragons the lead ten minutes before half-time with a slightly better than average drag-flick from a short corner. This, sadly, galvanised the away side as they quickly converted two short corner routines of their own to go into half-time with a 2-1 lead.
Despite promising play throughout the second half, Bourne Deeping could not find a breakthrough and came heartbreakingly close to an equaliser when Will 'Eddie the Eagle' Cook hit the post from two yards out. The Dragons’ profligacy was punished by two further short corner routines from the away side to produce a 4-1 scoreline that flattered the away side. Pushing for a way back into the game, the home side were caught on the counter attack as St Albans scored their fifth - but first from open play. Soon after, Richard 'Kim Jong-Un II' Collins bobbled a second drag-flick past the away keeper but it was very much a case of too little, too late.
