Bourne Deeping Men's 1s took the short trip across to Bretton Gate to take on City of Peterborough 3s, looking to keep their winning run going into the Christmas break.
Chris Burden on his return to his former club, opened the scoring for Bourne Deeping with a penalty corner, before a well worked team goal saw Thomas Fowkes double their lead following great work in the D from Alex Hutton.
Peterborough then saw a sequence of 5 consecutive penalty corners thwarted by a combination of Jack Langley in the Dragons' goal, Richie Collins' goal line heroics, and Graham Brewer sticking his ankle in the way whenever he could!
Having weathered the storm without conceding, the Dragons started the second half again penned back by a Peterborough team looking to reduce the deficit. Langley was outstanding again in goal, turning away several goal bound efforts and frustrating the Peterborough forwards while Burden grabbed his second through another penalty corner, closely followed by Callum Howitt's close range effort to make it 4-0. Both teams battled hard until the end, but Peterborough were unable to unlock a defence of Gray, Collins, and Macbeth and so the Dragons kept their clean sheet and all 3 points to leap to 4th in the table at the halfway mark of the season.
