The Dragons 1st team ventured south on the hunt for a return to 3 points and making better use of their attacking proficiency. From the beginning it was clear that the forwards were ready, showcasing their ability to find the target before they had even stepped onto the pitch.
The game started with the Dragons looking determined and resolute to play a high press, Edlington and Brittain leading the line, harassing the shakey and mistake prone defence.
The first goal went the Dragons way when Alex Hutton weaved his way into the circle for a nice tap in. St Ives then pushed forward and the newly formed defence of Will Gray, Matty Clarkson, and Isaac Charles had to stand firm despite the award of some harsh short corners. one such corner lead to the equaliser when the ball found itself trapped under GK Portlock's foot before dropping kindly to the St Ives forward who duly took advantage.
The Dragons reacted well to the set back though, and pushed on in search of more opportunities. Charles made a dramatic goal line clearance form a penalty corner which seemed to spur the side on to win their own corner which was duly despatched through the 'keeper by Edlington to regain the lead.
St Ives came out stronger in the second half and the Dragons were forced to soak up the pressure, not helped by green cards for Gray and Brittain leaving them short handed for periods. However, despite the pressure from the home side a second goal from Edlington put the game to bed with the final score 3-1 to Bourne Deeping.
