After a successful start to their away campaign last week, Bourne Deeping welcomed Cambridge City Vets to AMVC looking to kick start their home form and back in black kit (though kind of blue) once more.
Nevermind that their team name is Veterans, the 3 junior players in their ranks soon stole the show, seemingly born to run with the ball which they did at a slightly harassed looking Bourne backline. A penalty corner opened the scoring for the Veterans who held their lead until halftime and beyond. Against the run of play they then doubled their lead as Kid A converted a second penalty corner leaving the Dragons bench wondering what's going on.
The response was hampered by increased frustration as tempers frayed and passes strayed. However its all part of life's rich tapestry and when Andrew Kind hit a shot the rebound deflected high for Joseph Moisey to convert with an overhead smash in front of his adoring fans.
The deficit halved but still the Dragons huffed and puffed until with just 3 minutes left on the clock, Alex Hutton picked up the bits and pieces around the D to snatch a just about deserved equaliser to take a point from this 4 goal thriller with the celebrations heard all the way back in Bourne Abbey Road.
Despite an impressive 2 goal comeback, the home side were disappointed with their performance seeing this as 2 points dropped rather than 1 earned, however things will surely be hunky dory again next week as they travel to take on St Ives.
