A beautiful warm autumn morning saw this east 4 North west fixture play out.
The Bourne ladies started well with quick slick passing through the strong midfield between Martin, Collins and Murray. Feeding the forward line and a quick shot on goal from L Mann.

Much of the first 20 minutes saw Bourne continue with this press, with the midfield supplying the ball to both wingers Bailey and Fielding who kept the positive forward play resulting in a short corner. This resulted with a goal from Murray but unfortunately was disallowed due to ball not hitting the back board.

This seemed to galvanised the opposition. With Bourne pushing up St Ives hit back with long forward balls to their forwards and allowed some, one on ones with goal keeper Greenaway who clearer shots well along with her lines. A short corner for St Ives saw some frantic defending and a block on the line on the chest by Curtis, awarding St Ives a penalty flick; Goal to St. Ives.

This didn’t deter Bourne Ladies. St Ives continued with the long ball tactic but was nullified by a very secure defensive line of Curtis, Oakley and Barrett. Bourne continued to press and once again a long ball found a St Ives Forward who slipped goal number two against the run of play 2-0 to St Ives.

The second half saw much of the same from Bourne. C Mann and Staff made some good runs and supplied some quick slip passes into the circle but unfortunately Bourne were not able to convert.

St Ives were not able to pressure the Bourne’s circle much in the second half it was if they were holding out for a 2 nil win. On the other hand Bourne were pressing hard to get on the score board. One strong attach from Martin passing into the circle found Mann who slipped it past the goalkeeper but again was disallowed for a high ball into the circle from Martin. Still Bourne pressed and with only seconds to go were awarded a short corner. A slick routine this time saw Martin finish well for a well deserved goal.
The game finishing with a 2-1 loss to Bourne but the determination and persistence shown from the Bourne players bodes well for the rest of the season.
