No thrashing on the cards during this match

At the beginning of the season, Bourne Deeping mens 5th team were thrashed by the current league leaders who were again strong at their home ground. However the visitors were in determined mood and with inspirational form of Joe Ashby in goal were not going to be turned over so easily on this occasion. It was not a surprise that Nomads had good early possession and were a constant threat but Matthews, Dacre and Ed Sarsby did their best to repel the threat. James and Lewis Gray again showed their improvement over the season and blocked, tackled and regained brief spells of control. On the right side Charlie Butler found opportunities to attack and link with Richard Gray.
Nomads registered their first goal midway through the first half with some swift passes and a gave Joe Ashby no chance. Defiantly the Dragons picked themselves up and continued to be positive in their play and following some good exchanges on the right, the ball fell to Richard Gray who gave his travelling support a moment of excellence as he allowed the ball to drift across his body before unleashing an unstoppable reverse stick equaliser which clearly rattled the Nomads team.
The game became a little fractious as the battle for the control continued but the scores remained even at the break. Nick Teesdale and Kev Baker were terrific in the centre of midfield alongside Pete Moisey, struggling after first half injury, and they managed to hold strong with Ashby making yet more fine saves. Unfortunately it was the missed interception by a BDHC defender that wrong footed Joe leaving an easy finish in front of goal. In terms of chances created, Nomads deserved the lead albeit arising from a large slice of fortune. As the game faded to its final moments Bourne Deeping had a series of attacking penalty corners but were unable to snatch an unlikely point but recording a 2.1 loss left with a huge amount of pride in their team performance.
