After a crashing defeat last week the 5th’s bounced back on a rainy day to beat Long Sutton 3rd’s 4-1. A game that went their way for the majority of the time saw a commanding start from Eliot Bates in the midfield and inevitably lead to an opening goal through Tim Kiesel.
This goal was demonstrative of the fast- passing, unselfish flowing play for The Dragons with pressure developing across both wings and Long Sutton being kept in their own half for long periods. The 5ths’ youngsters of Kristian Rushworthy and Lewis and James Gray improve every week and constantly harried their opponents.
Long Sutton snatched an equaliser from a penalty corner just before half time but it was not long before the evergreen Steve Waters put The Dragons ahead. Both he and Tim Kiesel added further goals in the second half.
A welcome return for Karl Taylor with his attacking midfield play in particular allowed The Dragons to develop chances whilst a strong performance from defenders Mark Lovejoy and Steve Knipe meant Long Sutton were never let back into the game.
