The rain had tested the "all weather" status of the pitch but thankfully it went ahead and both teams played out this inter-club league match in excellent spirit and passion. The threats were clear and the 5's defence was tested continually, Phipps Wakeham and Sarsby determined to restrict their opponents chances on goal.
Joe Ashby was in fine form again making numerous saves to maintain parity, whilst through the midfield Joseph & Pete Moisey and Magnus Windsor worked to release Ethan Foster & Simon Richardson in wide positions to give opportunities for Aaron and Steve Waters. A welcome return to the pitch for Mark Gambles showing a calm head to make simple passes.
1.0 down at half time to a penalty corner strike the home side were content with the balance of play and hopefully of registering a reply however the 4th team was more clinical in the D. As the temperature fell the 5th team found it increasingly difficult to retain possession but never lost focus and a will to take the game to their opposition. The Bluebell Helpston was a welcome reward post match.
