At the start whistle 5s were just 10 men strong but soon joined by patched up captain with the 11 settling well in the first 15 mins. Unfortunately Mark Hotchkin pulled up with ligiment strain - and the team back to 10 - which Ely City capitalised on.....going 2 up. Mark Lovejoy made the team back up to 11 - and strengthened the defensive line - allowing BDHC to attack and get a penalty corner just on the half time whistle. Bates’ short-corner drag flick was set to miss but was converted by Waters to half the deficit at the break. It was a tiring 35 minutes but through the second half they imposed themselves on the match with davin foston an increasing threat - his contribution deserved two goals and an assist allowing paul Blackler to convert at the far post and ensure the final 5 minutes was relaxed for the home side. The match was played in friendly & competitive spirit and the two young umpires were excellent in their roles. A difficult away trip to Louth awaits on 19th october
