A high scoring battle

Bourne arrived at March with confidence and determination from their last week's victory against Spalding 4 with a full squad plus a sub to take on their 2nd team, knowing a victory was vital.

Despite the poor lighting, visibility and drizzle..the game started lively and energetically with both teams pushing to score the first goal ..it was the Dragons who got the first sting within 10 minutes as unmarked Joseph Moisey managed to dribble past two players, rocket his shot past the keeper with a reverse stick…the keeper definitely had no chance in saving that….

A second goal came 5 minutes later with a good build up of play from the right flank allowing Bourne to press further down the pitch ..passes from Goode to Dodds and then to Moisey who calmly placed the ball in the lower left of the goal just before half time approached.

BDHC started the second half with a (2-0) lead but it didn’t take long before March pulled one back. As the game progressed, there were some good passes from Goode and Mowbray but March managed to even the score (2-2). A well drilled short corner gave BDHC the lead again with a goal from Dodd's. (3-2) 10 minutes later March equalised (3-3) after a momentary lapse in concentration within the mid and defence BDHC thought they were about to claim full points when Moisey converted a flick after he was fouled in the D by their keeper (4-3) Unfortunately BDHC couldn't hold out as March equalised yet again moments before the final whistle leaving the score line (4-4).

It was a well fought even game throughout with both sides contributing 100% to their cause. Moisey fully deserved his man of the match award. Other stand out performers were Simon, Dodds, Swily and Goode within a gritty team performance.

Next week BDHC will entertain Cambridge City 6 at the Arthur Mellow's. Let's hope we can build on the previous weeks' performances.
