A much weakened 4th team travelled to St Neots and paid the price going down 4-0 to a better side. This was a valiant performance for the team that was supported by a superb game for the Dragons keeper, Joe Ashby.
The Dragons started well with the majority of the play but as with much of the game, they could never convert into real pressure despite gaining a number of penalty corners. A few too many passes were made with more hope than accuracy by the whole team for this level.
St Neots opened the scoring midway through the first half and added a further two before half time.
Dogmatic play by the Dragons helped to deny further chances although this became overzealous for Jeremy Phipps leading to a two minute cooling off period.
Karl Taylor had another good game linking well on the right with the returning Joe Gresty. Both were amongst a number of players giving on pitch support to the younger players. Charlie Butler, Lewis Gray and Kristian Rushworth again showed commitment and coped well as they needed to regularly change positions to support their flagging team mates. Will Taylor again distinguished himself.
St Neots added a further goal in the second half with further good keeping and defending closing down options for them to add anything further.
