BD 4s beat March 2s, 6-1
The Dragons thrashing of March 2s was a bright spot in an otherwise dismal October day.
Determined to make up for last week’s narrow defeat to local rivals BD 3s, the home team were focussed on securing all 3 points.
However the Dragons didn’t have it all their own way, and against the run of play, March took the lead with a flukey opening goal.
Then an inspired tactical substitution, saw Goode move into midfield to compliment an experienced midfield diamond of Moisey, Oakley and Chorley.
Slick passing followed, and the champagne started to flow.
Oakley levelled, before a Vartan short corner put the Dragons ahead. It was good to see Vartan rediscover his scoring boots, which have been sadly missing, since he’s taken to wearing full PPE on match days.
Two more goals, saw the Dragons move into a commanding lead before the goal of the match. After a tidy passing move down the right, Ed Moisey defied his tender years, to send an exquisite lob over the keeper, for the Dragons fifth.
Sensing March’s defence was tiring, another inspired substitution saw Baker come on upfront, to add pace to the Dragons attack. The captain’s genius was rewarded when five minutes later a neat one-two at the top of the D, set up Baker with a scoring opportunity.
To his teammates horror, Baker calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper’s outstretched right foot, into the far corner of the goal, to put the ribbon on a 6-1 victory
In pre-Covid times, the team would have celebrated this victory, with both the rare sight of Jon Oakley‘s wallet, and the Bluebell’s golden chicken goujons, washed down with a catering pack of Booker’s finest baked beans. Oh how we all yearn for a return to normality.
