Bourne Deeping Mens 4’s v Cambs Nomads 4‘s

The weather was expected to play a part in the game at the weekend, but it brought about a tale of two halves as opposed to the likely postponement of the fixture.

With the wind at their tails bourne Deeping men’s 4’s dominated the first half bagging two well deserved goals one from open play and the other from a short corner, but should have had more. An open goal was missed and other opportunities went begging. Wind was the only weather feature to contend with at this point, but with the sound of the whistle and the commencement of the second period hail and rain were thrown into the faces of the Bourne Deeping side.

This became increasingly telling and Cambs south started to control the game after 10 minutes of the half. A half time injury took bourne Deeping to 11 men compounding the situation and Cambs south pulled a goal back. This was followed a few minutes later with a converted short corner. Bourne played most of the last 25 minutes in their own half and with a head injury 10 minutes before time, saw the game out with a man down.

Ultimately a respectable away draw from a higher placed team, but three points were within reach and a tinge of disappointment resounded.
