Bourne Deeping’s mens 4th team’s match against Kettering 3’s was over almost before it begun having gone 3 nil down within 15 minutes of the start. The game was evenly contested at this point, but with three attempts, Kettering had three goals and it was only going to be uphill from thereon in. Whilst Bourne Deeping scored via Tom Day from a really well worked short corner, Kettering bagged another two goals having taken the initiative in the first half.
Having made some positional changes at the interval, the second half was much more controlled, even contested and tight, with Kettering taking it by a goal to nil. Paul Blackler managed the left flank with guile and the re-introduction of Richard Baker back from a long injury spell assisted in gluing the defensive unit. The opposition deserved the three points and continue to challenge for promotion. Bourne Deeping travel to Cambridge next week looking to build on a constructive second half performance.
