Bdhc 4’s v Ely 2’s

Bourne Deeping mens 4’s got back to winning ways with, an ultimately, comfortable victory in Ely. It was however left late to seal the points and thanks to two late goals from Goode, showing poise and a delicate touch from relatively close range. What happened before that was made unnecessarily hard work by the visitors having taken the lead in the first half whilst being in total control. The Ely equaliser came as a bit of shock; for Bourne Deeping being against the run of play and for Ely jolting them into stepping up a gear.

So much so for Ely that soon after half time they took the lead and could easily had another. To make matters worse Bourne Deeping soon went down to nine players with Oakley and Allen feeling the wrath of the umpires for indiscretions. But as often happens in sport, a galvanising moment often occurs in such circumstances, and in this case with two men down Bourne Deeping equalised and then soon took the lead.

A one goal lead is always uncomfortable though and whilst some order was restored it wasn't until the fourth goal crossed the line that a sense of three points was coming. The last home game before Christmas next week for Bourne Deeping against a Louth side, also in the bottom half of the table
