Bourne Deeping fourths were expecting a tough trip to a side chasing promotion, but despite the result it was a much more competitive than the score line suggests. It took some time for the scoring to open when March scored a drag flick from a short corner and before that Bourne Deeping had more than their fair share of possession and chances. The March goalkeeper, worthy of playing several leagues higher made a string of saves denying the likes of Joe Allen and Aaron Waters, keeping the score sheet clean. March added another from a short corner routine before half time, but Bourne Deeping were still well in the game.
Paul Curtis had a mountain of a game at sweeper, playing in front of the back three, intercepting passes and displaying a successful tackling percentage that would surely be in the 90’s. However despite those efforts and the fortitude of the players around, the other stand out player in the March team scored or set up all the goals, and even a full strength Bourne Deeping squad would have struggled against him.
Bourne Deeping 4’s host a Peterborough side next week who’ve already picked up plenty of points so far this campaign.
