1-1
Scorer Jon Oakley
Bourne Deeping 4ths ultimately dropped points on the opening day of the season as the visitors went away happy with the draw.
After a slow opening ten minutes in which a goal was conceded, Bourne Deeping started to gather momentum, passing the ball neatly and playing the game largely in the opposition half. Joe Allen, Andrew Vartan and Jon Oakley combining well in the final third being fed by Eliot Bates and Kev baker on the right. It was such a combination that led to the equalising goal, a bit of a scramble, eventually slotted in the right hand corner by Jon Oakley. That was the minimum the home team deserved at that point.
The second half was more of the same and more with Bourne Deeping have swathes of attacks and playing the game high up the pitch. There was the odd counter attack from St Neots, but the Bourne Deeping goal keeper had next to nothing to do all game and the defensive unit of Paul Curtis, Paul Jackson and Wes Thomas played the role of supplying the midfield and wingers with attacking ball. However despite numerous chances, very few were on target, so with only themselves to blame the 4ths walk a way with a disappointing draw.
