Bourne deepings mens 3s took on a useful St Ives outfit. After edging a 9 goal thriller earlier in the season it was important to male it more comfortable this time and keep the promotion race going despite the efforts of the powers that be,, to scupper the effort.
After the first penalty corner of the day pinged off 2 posts for the opener and the second pc, in contrast, caressed the backboard , the home side were off and running. Aaron Waters deflected nicely for the 3rd and 3.0 at the break was deserved.
The second half was a closer affair. The Sr ives danger man was redeployed in the centre and became their focus and ultimately dragging his team back into the contest with the next 2 goals.
Time to refocus. Pcs awarded and options explored without reward amd so to open play goals. Aaron grabbed his second a fine goal ,- a pass to disect the defence, a well timed run from Alex middlemiss, head up, accurate pass, calm finish.
The 5th, and assuring the points was delivered by Gray, ... James stayed clear as lewis and Richard both on hand as the ball sat up in the D., it was Junior awarded the finish although it is probably still being debated across the Millfueld kitchen table.
Rounding off the day and another, thankfully more comfortable 9 goal affair was Paul Byrne stepping inside and a reverse stick finish.
Tougher tests lay ahead for the 3s in the run to the end of the season
