Yellow cards added pressure but the home side were too strong in the end

The heavens opened as the match got underway and in difficult conditions and carrying injuries Bourne Deeping struggled to keep up with a strong Wellingborough side. The defence were resolute, Paul Jackson was immense repelling their attacks and clearing off the line, and adding to Jack Langleys string of saves to keep the scores level.
The home side dominated with only fleeting attacks from the dragons, a moment of misjudgement and Pete Moisey was asked to take a rest by the umpires whilst they recalibrated their yard sticks. The pressure told and Wellingborough took the lead. Back to full compliment but the home team added to their tally as jack was unable to keep everything at bay.

Tom Day worked tirelessly and covered every blade of plastic in attempts to recover the ball and drive the dragons forward. Paul Matthews offered width and Joe Wray showed pace and ability as an outfield player and chances came (and went).

The monsoon ceased and the sun broke though and suddenly it was the visitors who started to press forward, however the play broke down and Wellingborough added to their tally to take the result beyond Bourne Deeping, and again to make it 4

Andy Sampson showed huge desire to keep winning the ball back and Bourne deeping continued to take the game to their opposition Paul Jackson took his dispute too far and was also rewarded with a breather on the sidelines. Once back at full strength some quick thinking and a sharp pass by Magnus Windsor gave Moisey a rare sight of goal who duly converted and they continued to dominate. A string of penalty corners were awarded to Bourne Deeping and although Wrays injection was prefect Wellingborough were able to stop them by fair means or foul and a second goal evaded them. A moment of hesitation as to whether play was live and Wellingboroughs best player proved his worth with an unstoppable 5th. Man of the Match Jack Langley but some really worthy performances across the team today

The post match hospitality was warm, the chilli sauce a challenge Windsor couldn't resist and the 4's will regroup for another encounter next week.
