An away trip in the rain of Cambridge South saw the Dragons mens 2's face stiff opposition in a squad with aims on promotion. With a bare 11 starting when the long suffering Wes Thomas broke down again which real blow but thankfully the evergreen veteran Dave Sarsby had just about enough kit to stand in and keep numerical balance. Had his one-time effort evaded the surprised keeper it would have been a goal to remember. Had his true sportsmanship escaped him when the ball crossed from his foot then then an unlikely goal in division 3NW would have been less celebrated.

There was no doubt BDHC we've in for a rough ride and the committed home team snapped into challenges to unsettle their guests, once too many as captain Pete Moisey lost his cool to ensure all knew there was a line not to be crossed. The match was beyond that, well contested however the bigger threat from Cambridge south and they took a 2 goal lead into the break.

The energy from those already having run earlier is testament to the support the top two teams this year and Hutton was a driving force in mid field and Matthews kept the home defence at their sharpest as Bourne Deeping tried to reduce the deficit. Euan Johnston showed his continued weekly improvement on the right as Edward Moisey secured a slightly less favoured left side.

It looked as though an away goal would come, however it was Cambs who nudged a further step ahead before Hutton converted an excellently worked penalty corner was swiftly followed by another PC opportunity & unstoppable flick from Matthews. South were rattled. Bourne Deeping pushed a little too hard for the equaliser as they pinned their opponents and in a breakaway, a speculative ball from the home team into Ed Sarsby D took a deflection from a dangled stick and as the ball breached the goalline for 4.2 the BDHC hopes of a comback were extinguished.

BDHC mens 2's face Kettering this week as they try to end the season with a positive set of results to close a succesful league season.
