Sports Relief Tournament
April 28th 2012
This afternoon saw 6 teams battle in out at Deeping Astroturf in a mixed hockey tournament in aid of Sports Relief. BDHC entered 3 teams, facing opposition from Spalding, Long Sutton, and a team from Deeping Leisure Centre who were supporting the event organised by staff and pupils from the Deepings School.
The final was a close fought affair between Long Sutton and BDHC 'C' team. The Dragons took the lead but were soon pegged back to 1-1 before retaking the lead through a penalty flick. Chances went begging at both ends and either side could easily have won it.
Despite the customary wet and blustery weather, there was a great friendly atmosphere, some good hockey on display, and a fun time was had by all. Most importantly the event raised over £400 for Sports Relief.
A big thankyou to Spalding and Long Sutton for coming down, we hope you enjoyed it despite the awful weather! Thankyou to everyone involved in the organisation on the day; to Tony, Jason, Pete and Swilly for umpiring, to Phil and Sue for organising the BDHC teams and a huge thankyou and massive pat on the back to Josh Tate who organised the entire event. Brilliant work Josh!
